The Challenge
Ransomware has become an uncomfortable reality across the Canadian health sector. A leading health insurance provider had seen peers hit by cyberattacks that shut down systems, disrupted services, and forced painful public recoveries. The company’s leadership didn’t want to be next. They sought to understand, candidly and practically, how ready they really were, and what would happen inside their organization if a serious cyber incident occurred tomorrow.
The company turned to Juno Risk for a comprehensive solution that would not only assess their current posture but also empower them to recover stronger from any attack.
Our Approach
We responded with a dedicated team of cybersecurity and resilience experts. In just two weeks, we immersed ourselves in the client’s business, rapidly understanding their critical operations, stakeholder needs, and the influence their leadership would have in a crisis.
Our efforts began with direct collaboration with executives, IT leaders, and operations teams to understand how decisions would actually be made during a crisis. We designed a customized cyber crisis tabletop exercise built around the client’s systems, stakeholders, and pressures. The scenario revealed important gaps such as unclear escalation paths and assumptions about third parties, along with opportunities to strengthen coordination and communications.
Rather than stopping at findings, Juno Risk helped turn lessons learned into concrete improvements to incident response, business continuity, and crisis management processes. The engagement concluded with a focused Board-level exercise that gave directors hands-on experience navigating a ransomware event and clarified their role in protecting the organization.
Outcome
By the end of the project, the client had more than an assessment; they had practical experience, insights into their business vulnerabilities, stronger plans, and greater confidence in their cyber resilience and ransomware preparedness.
